Men’s trip to La Gomera and Tenerife

Sonnenuntergang vor Anker bei La Gomera

On 16 November 2024 we finally set off again – on our famous (or infamous) men’s trip! As always, Michi and Norbert were on board. And new to the crew this time: another Michi, namely Michael, whom I know very well through work and who has since become a friend. He fitted into the group perfectly.

From La Palma to La Gomera and Tenerife

At last ME was moving again! From La Palma we sailed across to La Gomera and spent a night at anchor on the north side of the island. Then we continued to Las Galletas on Tenerife, where we spent three days in the harbour and explored the island. We had a huge amount of fun, laughed a lot – and of course a fair few drinks were involved. Afterwards we sailed back to La Palma and left ME in her home port again.

Uli and Claudia

That week we also met our boat neighbours Uli and Claudia from the Paloma Grande – affectionately called “Palomi” by the two of them – truly wonderful people. Once again our outboard wasn’t working properly, and we didn’t know them at all. But Uli – a former carpenter, a big bear of a man – immediately said: “Then just take mine.” I said: “But we’ll be gone for a week.” – “No problem.” And so he simply lent us his outboard, and we had a dinghy we didn’t have to row.

After the week we of course brought the engine back and thanked them with a merry, musical evening. We have stayed in close touch ever since. That encounter turned into a real friendship.
