New Year’s Eve in Morro Jable – and we become grandparents

Wir beide im Lichter-Ballon

On 29 December 2025 Steffi and I headed back to Morro Jable – this time to celebrate New Year’s Eve there.

To our great surprise, Martin and Conny from the Isly were in Morro Jable too. They had actually planned to sail on much earlier – but they stayed on because of us. So we celebrated New Year’s Eve together, and not only that: the party carried on for the following days as well. We had a hell of a lot of fun and laughed an awful lot.

Grandma and Grandpa!

We had actually planned to stay longer. But then came the best news of all: we had become grandparents! Our little grandson Aris was born. It was quickly clear: we would cut our holiday short and fly straight home to support our children. It was exactly the right decision.

So ME had to wait for us for a while again – but in 2026 we were back on board more often. More about that in the next chapter …
